Course Reviews:
“Teachers as Coaches was a great class for moving from a teacher directed classroom toward a student directed learning experience. You learn strategies for working with groups, addressing communication issues, and helping students develop problem solving skills. You reflect on your own listening skills and practice student directed questioning skills. You develop classroom management and lesson planning skills for a student directed learning experience. You learn how to coach in a group setting and one on one with students who have individual needs. You become more reflective of your own strengths and weaknesses as a teacher and work to improve your instructional practices. Finally, you create motivational lessons where your student can take ownership and interest in what they are studying.
This leads to flexibility and creativity among your student directed learning projects. Overall I found the course, Teachers as Coaches, very valuable and it has stretched my teaching capabilities to new limits. Go in with an open mind and be willing to take risks; you will find some great rewards in the skills you learn.”
